My Deskscape keeps freezing on Windows 10 retain x64 Pro...

Object Desktop was once Stardocks flagship, I guess they are making a lot more money off of games. I suspect 2016 may be the first year since 1998 that I don't renew my OD subscription. They used to have beta's ready before release of an OS.

they have the start ten ready.they wanted to wait because of the fact that windows 10 isn't like anything they seen, the entire os was changing in beta, now that its full they are working on stuff but give it time.be patient

Essentially up until 10, and to a lesser[?] extent - 8, Microsoft's OS releases have been evolutionary, not revolutionary.  It was [then] fairly simple [and less dangerous] to adapt existing software to the new OS.

With Win 8 Microsoft did some slash and burn 'under the hood' which required a lot more work to resolve.  10 is just yet another hurdle to deal with...and it's only even LOOKED 'final' for a precious week or two.

Sometimes early Beta rollouts of software can bite you in the bum....either by breaking the OS itself or by a flood of 'it's broke' responses to Support actually interfering with currently supported software support.  [I need a medal for using 'support' so many times in a sentence]...

Thanks for being the voice of reason Jafo. It must be frustrating when MS makes such drastic changes. I'll be patient.

i put in my 2 cents too.i suffer from understanding how things work but i cant build from scratch.im who you would call to figure out whats causing an issue however.

i have faith in the stardock team though and i know that its going to take time but they havent abandoned us.if you read in some articles they make hints that they are working on updates soon.ive seen mentiones of windowblinds and quite a few others being hinted.i get it people are like oh i want it now.ive beta tested windows ten for awhile and had to postpone my renewal until object desktop gets updated.im hacking my system to allow some old methods of skinning even tho id prefer stardocks because it comes with less glitches.if they are taking their time there is a good reason.if you understood how things work you will understand how much has changed in windows 10.it may not be noticed at first by the untrained eye but it exists.

good example is changing a boot logo.while i found a way to do it via an old hack its not recommended because the newer bootres is set up like a sophistacated cmd system than just a few pictures.yes you can get it to work but eventually it freezes your pc and you have to reinastall windows cause of its incompatiability.way different from windows 8.1 and thats just the boot logo.they got it so wrapped around the wim its crazy.

sorry for this long speech but im hoping people read it and understand, genius takes time, and stardock patrons have alot of it,so be patient, the os is still new.we will rise once more.

whoever agrees and reads this please give me kudos.this was a heartfelt response stardock, keep it up guys

Microsoft has sent me a reservation app. In checking out my system,  it told ne that Deskscapes is not compatible....

I'm happy to see that some users are reporting that it does work on Win 10

Should I uninstall it before  I get Win 10?

Thanks

Skinit ...when in doubt ALWAYS uninstall first.  That applies to any/all software, not just Stardock's....

only thing you should do atm if your using it is stay away from the windows 10 task view keys.i just hid that icon.its the only thing ive found that freezes it.also on another note course i kindve expected this being windows 10 is a different shell. i tried skinpacks and the uxtheme.at first i thought my computer wouldnt boot due to other mods but seems uxthemeing gets trapped sometime in your memory and can cause your computer not to function right.but as far as deskscapes a stardock project,it only seems to be the new way they do the taskview freezing things

as always though updated modules will work, its only a matter of time.i trust stardock more than i do these third party devs.just a waiting game for the most part for updated modules and bug fixes

Been a member since 2006 and in all that time I had 1, just one problem and that was fixed by support in less than two days. I have never experienced any problems on any machine I worked with running XP, Vista (ugh) and Win 7. I wait for an OS to go RTM then wait some more until SD devs get their hands on it. That's when the real magic starts. Stardock doesn't get half the credit they deserve IMO.
